COURSE 3 – Intermediate

Class Type:  2 Day Virtual Instructor Led

Description

This course assumes students have a firm foundation of Crystal Reports. We will start by building a comprehensive report including all of the fundamental concepts and also cover section formatting, running totals, parameters to prompt for information. Students will learn these features as they complete exercises that reinforce the learning process. As students do this, they will begin to build valuable skills needed to create Crystal Reports. Note: If you do not have the correct application installed on your computer, please call for help with installing an evaluation version.

Concepts Covered
  • Overview / Refresher Exercise – Format Review, Select Expert, Groups Review, Database Expert,
    Formulas Review, Conditional Format Review, Charts Review, and Export Review.
  • Section Expert – Section Expert, Section Manipulation, Insert Section, Common Tab, Drill-Down,
    Hide (Drill-Down OK), Hide, Suppress (No Drill-Down), Print at Bottom of Page, Suppress Blank
    Section, Keep Together, Underlay Following Sections, Underlay Graphic, Underlay Text, Read Only,
    Relative Positions, Format Multiple Sections, Color Tab, X-2, and Alternate Highlights.
  • Running Total – Create Running Total, Placement, Evaluate Option, Reset Option, Never Reset, On Change of Field, On Change of Group, Reset at Group, Use Formula and Reset with Formula.
  • Parameters / Prompts – Static Parameter, Dynamic, Parameter Value, Show on Viewer Panel, Prompt Text, Prompt with description only, Optional Prompt, Description, Default Value, Allow custom values, Allow Multiple Values, Allow Discrete, Allow Range Values, Min Length, Max Length, Edit Mask, Cascade Parameters, Multiple Parameters, Set Parameter Order, Export/Import, Group Prompt, Special Character, Minimum and Maximum function.

 

COURSE 4 – Advanced

This course assumes students have a firm foundation of Crystal Reports. We will start by learning crosstabs, alerts, and building templates. Furthermore, we will be developing some advanced formulas focusing on design, variables, arrays, multi-pass process, and the SQL interface. We will build sub-reports, a technique that allows users to submit a second report in order to collect information from the same or a different database. Students will learn these features as they complete exercises that reinforce the learning process. As students do this, they will begin to build valuable skills needed to create Crystal Reports. Note: If you do not have the correct application installed on your computer, please call for help with installing an evaluation version.

  • Advanced Functions and Formulas   – String Functions, Left, Length, Mid, Right, ToText, Converting Dates, Picture, IsNull, NextIsNull, Subscript, Trim, Replace, Instr, Uppercase, Lowercase, ToWords, Date Functions, CDate, CurrentDate, Date, DateAdd, DateDiff, DatePart, DateSerial, IsDate, Year, Month, Day, Monthname, WeekDayName, DayOfWeek, IF Condition Function, If W/String, Select Case, Variable and Array.
  • Advanced Processing – Multi – Passes, Pre-Pass1, Pass 1, Pre-Pass2, Pass 2, Pass 3, EvaluateAfter(name), Running Total Multipass, and SQL Command.
  • Subreports – Subreport, Unlinked, Linked, Modify Subreport, On-Demand, Use Existing Report, Shared Variable, Subreport Preview tab, and Subreport Caption in Preview.
  • Advanced Groups – In ascending order, In descending order, Specified Order, Original Order, Customize Group Name, Keep Group Together, New Page After, Repeat Group Header, and InRepeatedGroup Header.
  • Cross Tab – Placement, Planning, Cross-Tab Wizard, Crosstab Chart, Record Selection, Template, Cross-Tab Expert, and Format Cross-Tab.
